Senior Product Designer

About the team

The Product team at Haulix is small by design. Right now it's three people: a founder-PM, a designer (that's you), and a researcher who runs user sessions with real dispatchers. We ship fast — design cycles are 1–2 weeks, not quarters. We talk to users constantly — not once a year, but every week. We don't have design by committee or endless approval chains.

What you'll do
  • Own the design of our core dispatch board and all operator-facing interfaces

  • Design how dispatchers interact with Relay and Lens, our two AI agents

  • Build and maintain the design system from the ground up

  • Run user research directly with fleet operators and translate findings into product decisions

  • Collaborate with engineers daily — no handoff culture here

Who you are
  • 3–6 years of product design experience at a B2B or operations-focused startup

  • Strong portfolio showing complex, data-dense interfaces — dashboards, workflows, real-time UI

  • Can move between high-level product thinking and pixel-level execution in the same week

  • Comfortable working async and writing clearly without needing a meeting to move forward

  • Proficient in Figma — components, variables, auto-layout, prototyping

Pay & Benefits
  • $110,000 – $145,000 USD salary, benchmarked against Levels.fyi

  • 1%–2% equity, 4-year vest with 1-year cliff

  • Full health, dental, and vision — 100% of premiums covered

  • $2,000/year learning budget and $1,500 home office allowance

  • Twice-yearly team offsites and flexible hours

The interview proces

We move fast and respect your time. Most candidates go from first call to offer in 2–3 weeks.

Step 1: Application review — We respond to every applicant within 48 hours.

Step 2: Intro call — 30 minutes — Chat with our Head of Product or a founder. We talk about your background, what you're looking for, and what we're building. No trick questions.

Step 3: Portfolio walkthrough — 45 minutes — Walk us through 1–2 case studies from your portfolio. We ask about decisions, tradeoffs, and what you'd do differently. We want to understand your thinking, not just see pretty screenshots.

Step 4: Paid design task — 3–4 hours (you get $150 regardless of outcome) — A focused brief based on a real problem from our dispatch board. We share the design guide in advance so there are no surprises. This is about seeing how you approach a problem, not about whether you get it "right."

Step 5: Final conversations + offer — Meet 1–2 more team members. If it's a yes, you'll have an offer within 24 hours of your final interview.

Why join us

You'll be the first full-time designer on the team. That means you set the visual language. You establish the design systems and patterns. You have real influence over what gets built and how. You'll work with founders who actually listen to design. We don't treat designers as order-takers. We treat them as strategists. You'll talk to real users constantly. Not once a year. Not through a research agency. You'll watch dispatchers work, understand their world, and build things that genuinely make their lives easier. You'll join a team that ships. We don't spend months in planning. We move fast, we iterate, we learn from users.
